To learn more about Detoxing read here
Detoxing is a huge part of living a healthy lifestyle. There are many different types of environmental toxins in modern day, hundreds which remain stuck in the skin, circulatory system, lymphatic system, digestive system, connective tissue and even nervous system. These toxins slow us down and interrupt normal bodily functions. They affect the way we think, feel and interact with the world around us. If we are not actively detoxing our bodies and supplementing our elimination organs, there is a high chance of the body becoming overwhelmed with toxins and your health compromised.Â
BRC Spa is a Russian Bath house or Banya, that is a healing sanctuary for us - it has been an vital part of maintaining our health and well-being for the past 5 years. The water element is extremely balancing and grounding, while the hot and cold element train the nervous system to be more resilient and less reactive. Training your breath is extremely useful in this process because it allows you to hack the nervous system and train it to remain calm even in uncomfortable situations where you might experience the fight or flight stress response, also known as the sympathetic nervous system response. This experience happens during temperature fluctuations such as going inside a sauna and then entering the cold plunge or when your body perceives a threat. In addition to training your nervous system and breath control, your body is rejuvenated by heat proteins released by the body as well as optimized and cleared of toxins.Â
We are super excited to be able to implement our yoga practice in this space because it adds a very mindful approach to the Banya experience which has so many health benefits. We are going to learn breathwork specific for the banya, and poses that aid your detoxification process, at a physiological and emotional (energetic) level. This is a great place to release and let go. A weekly, biweekly or monthly ritual in which you invest in your well-being.Â
The Bath house is a great place to unwind but you can also do work. There are tables, wifi, a restaurant with delicious foods, tea, freshly made juice and bar. (We don't recommend drinking alcohol during the banya though)
There are 3 saunas, the dry sauna which is the hottest and sits next to a cold plunge, the wet sauna where you can continously pour buckets of water over your head, and the aromatic sauna. There is also a steam room, hot tub, pool  and relaxation room with heated floors where we will be holding our class. For additional fees you can also enjoy the infrared sauna, magnesium floating pod, himalayan salt room and massage services.Â
